Viveve has an experienced and highly regarded management team, Scientific Advisory Board, and Board of Directors. Together, they provide the leadership, resources, and direction necessary to achieve commercial success.

Kerry Pope CEO

Kerry started at Viveve in April of 2009. Prior to this, he co-founded Novare Surgical Systems and served as its CEO for ten years. Kerry demonstrated his ability to raise and manage capital, assemble and retain a talented team, weather significant challenges, and develop a compelling story from a technological and a new market perspective. Novare is now known for developing the technology that enabled the new laparoscopic surgical technique called single port surgery, or surgery completed through the umbilicus leaving only a hidden scar. Prior to Novare, Kerry served as Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Computer Motion (now part of Intuitive Surgical) and as VP and General Manager of the Vascular Systems Division of Baxter Cardiovascular Group.

Sherree Lucas Sr. Vice President, Marketing

Sherree joined Viveve in April 2009, bringing over 16 years of marketing experience with her to this new role. Most recently, Sherree served as Vice President of Global Marketing at Thermage (an aesthetic company which is now Solta Medical, Inc) where she established the dual target of physicians and consumers, spearheaded a marketing campaign that created brand awareness among physicians, and led the first direct-to-consumer campaign in that space. Prior to Thermage, she served as Marketing Director at Ocular Sciences (purchased by CooperVision in 2004) and was the Global Business Manager at Oral-B/Gillette. Sherree received her undergraduate degree from Marshall University and her MBA from NYU.

Alan Curtis V.P., Regulatory, Clinical and Quality

Alan joined Viveve in January 2010. In his role as Vice President Regulatory/Clinical and Quality, Alan brings over 30 years of experience to the organization. Alan has been involved in many medical device start-ups including Aragon Surgical, Reliant Technologies, SURx, and Endosonics. Alan also gained PMA approval for an interventional cardiology device while with W.L. Gore and Associates. He created and implemented robust Quality Systems to meet domestic and international regulatory requirements. In addition, Alan has established successful clinical and regulatory strategies that led to device commercialization in the U.S. as well as CE Mark for international distribution. Alan is also a member of the Regulatory Affairs Society (RAPs) and is certified as a Regulatory professional (RAC).

Virginia Tusher, PhD Director of Corporate Development

Virginia joined Viveve in 2011 from 5AM Ventures, an early stage life-sciences venture capital firm and investor in Viveve. At 5AM, Virginia was a member of the Viveve investment team since the company’s first financing, and evaluated investments in both biopharmaceuticals and medical devices. Prior to 5AM, Virgina conducted doctoral research in the fields of genetics and statistics, and worked as an engineer at Affymetrx, Inc. Virginia earned her BSE in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University and a PhD in Biochemistry from Stanford University.

Steve Lopez Director of Operations

Steve joined Viveve in April 2009 from Asthmatx, Inc. As the Director of Operations at Asthmatx he led his team through clinical production and scale-up activities for commercial release. Steve brings over 18 years of engineering, quality, and operations experience supporting medical devices for asthma, esophageal, oncology, general surgery, and cardiovascular therapies. He has worked for start-up and Fortune 500 companies such as Asthmatx, BRRX Medical, RadioTherapeutics, Boston Scientific, Johnson & Johnson, and Guidant (now part of Abbott Vascular). He earned his MS degree in Engineering Management from California State University, Northridge, received his BS degree in Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and is a Certified Manufacturing Engineer.
