The Viveve System presents one of the first simple, safe, non-ablative, non-surgical medical procedures to treat laxity of the vaginal tissue. Viveve’s system uses reverse thermal gradient radiofrequency energy to effectively tighten tissue just inside the vaginal opening.
There are four components to the Viveve system:
- The generator, which has been optimized for use in a physician’s practice
- The hand piece, which is specifically designed for the application
- The disposable tip, which delivers a single treatment
- The footswitch, which functions as a press-to-deliver and release-to-cease-delivery foot switch.
The treatment tip is placed against the vaginal mucosa, cooling the epithelial layer while the RF energy is delivered into the sub-mucosa. The RF heating remodels and increases collagen density in the sub-mucosal tissue. The combined effect creates a tightening of the introitus from the hymenal ring to approximately two centimeters inside the lower vaginal canal.
The Viveve system leverages the technology developed for and used for aesthetic purposes. The same reverse thermal gradient radiofrequency technology to tighten and firm facial and body skin is used in the Viveve Procedure to tighten and firm the tissue behind the vaginal introitus.
